The Interview

So, as I told you yesterday, I had my job interview this morning.

At about 9.30am I went to the office, nearly across the street, and was looking for the boss.
We talked for about 20 minutes about my idea, applying for an internship first and then maybe work for the company afterwards. He liked this idea luckily.
He told me interesting things about the office. For example, it is the biggest one in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and they built a lot in the past years and the will do it in the future as well.
In the end he said that he likes the idea, me working there, and he likes my ideas of what I imagine I could learn and do there. Additionally, it just depends on the fact, if they'll get the flat above or not. Because right now they don't have enough room for all the employees and another intern, which would be me, hopefully.
I should call him in the second week of January and see what's going on.

It was really a great conversation and I am pretty confident that I'll get this internship / job.

oh I forgot

This morning I called three architecture offices for which I applied a couple of days (1,5 week to be exact) ago, to find out what's going on with them (applications).

The first one excused herself for not responding (so nice of her) but told me that she hasn't that much to do for me right now and in the future (how could she know? anyways) . She also assured to me that if I need any certifications I could get them. Good to know, but I want a job, thanks.

Second one.
Cony: Hello....and so on....I applied for an internship with your company...... and so on
Guy: Sorry the boss isn't in the office right now, try it on Thursday again.
Cony: Can you tell him that I called?
Guy: Yes.
--- He hung up. (I don't wanna call there again. He sounded too stressed and I don't want to work in a bourgeois office again.)

The good thing is that I can choose. I just want a job I don't need a job urgently.

Third one.
The guy on the phone sounded so personable (sympathetic) to me. He told me that I can come along some time on Tuesday for a little chat! That's exactly what he said!

So tomorrow between 9am and 12pm I will go for little chat to the office which is around my house :)

I'm still here.....

long time no read.....

sorry guys, but I was simply lazy.

Additionally I was mostly just studying.... not that interesting for you, I think.

Between my posting(s) that I wanted to write since the last time, I was visiting my parents in Eichede. It was the weekend of the 16th November. I love being there! My parents are so cute and they always care about me and make sure that I'm resting while I'm there. On the Saturday evening I walked over to Melli's house and spend the evening drinking wine and chatting with Melli, Robert (her boyfriend) and Kay about everything that happened since I was there the last time, which was directly after I arrived in Germany.
Unfortunately I had to go back home on Sunday again. My brother came by and my Mum and Daniel (brother) drove me home to Wismar.

Monday and Tuesday was working time in the CAD Pool in our university.

Besides some studies nothing really special happened until Thursday.
Claudia and I had again a presentation in the English elective course 'Light & Material'. Topic, surfaces. We made pictures of fruits. Pineapple, Kiwi, Melon, Banana and Lime. Night and daytime pictures. So interesting. And fruits are great models too!!!! It was a good presentation, although we could have said and done a bit more, everybody liked our strange topic. Most of the other students had things like silk, concrete, stone, artificial fur and so on....

This Thursday evening Claudia and I finally managed to drink some beers in the famous Schlauch. Actually it was five beers and somehow we also had a couple (too much) plum and brain. Some guys at the other table bought, I think at least three rounds of plum and invited us. I was so drunk. I think Claudia as well.
The following day, I had to get up early, unfortunately, and head for university. Friday was the deadline day for examination registration. Then we had lunch and afterwards I was strolling through Wismar, with Claudia who was looking for a birthday present. At early afternoon I was sitting on my couch watching stupid TV shows. Great.

The plum shots

This weekend my main activity included designing for the Mexico Project. We have to develop a master plan for the whole property, find ideas for the house structure and the interior spaces. The difficult task is, it is in Mexico for Mexican people I never met before. I haven't seen those areas in my life and it is because of this, this project gets more difficult every day. But, it is still so much fun. In my elective course is Paulina, she's from Mexico City and visited our region ones. Claudia and I decided to invite her of a coffee sometime soonish and ask her a lot. I hope it would be alright for her.

The hill is one of the biggest parts, of the property, we have to design a master plan for.

A couple of days ago we had a meeting with another professor who was working in Peru ones. He told us a lot about the people and what they may be needing or not. Human things. It was so interesting. At one point he told us something he wasn't supposed to tell us, but he didn't know it. Our professor, who is leading this project, is about to find the cheapest flight tickets he can get, so we can go to Mexico!!!!!!! Awesome. I love this guy. But it is still a rumor. The other thing is that we don't know when we should fly to Mexico? There are only 4 to 5 weeks left of this semester, and he was recently in Mexico to meet with the other professors from the university there. So, we guess we might be going to our final presentation...but noone knows something for sure yet. Press your thumbs for it!!!

This Sunday I ate, for the first time since I'm living in Wismar, breakfast at the Kai Bar. Delicious! You should all try it when you come here. I had to mention it ;)

Love ya

Things I've done

As we went to the Marien Churchtower we had to find out that say cancelled the 5pm towertour. It is too dark. Aha. But there is light in the city and we would be able to see those.... the tower guide didn't respond on that. So no tour. We made our way to the TFZ again early at the evening with a stop over at the Kai Bar. Then, finally, we took the pictures for our presentation the following day.
It was great! A five hour, completely in english, presentation about lights in general. They liked ours and they asked some questions. I have to admit that my semester isn't like this. They never ask questions, they are mostly loud and have attention deficits. But not this course of studies. I really enjoyed it. Additionally, our pictures turned out good in the end.

This friday Kay came over to Wismar. He's a really good friend of mine. He said that he wanted to take me out for dinner because I couldn't be at his birthday party. Great. I like dinner and spending time with Kay. We went to the restaurant called Börner's Keller. MC, Dave and James know it.
Afterwards we picked up Claudia and drove to a small, very small village, in the middle of nowhere. It's in the direction of Rostock:
Größere Kartenansicht
Garvensdorf. There was a cute, huge estate where they had a filmfestival. We drank some real inexpensive mulled wine and ate some little sandwiches. Then they had an old DDR short film. It was called boat lift and was about 5 minutes long. Then they plaed the main movie. the 3 hours long Atanarjuat-the legend from the fastest runner.
So great, you should watch it if you like to see a great movie.

Kay left Wismar on Saturday morning, after a breakfast of Pancakes and maple sirup.

The rest of my weekend was quite unspectacular. I went into some shops in Wismar to search for a tripod and some other equipment things for my newly bought camera. After I found out about the expensive prices in this small province town I bought a subway sandwich and went home.
Because of my boredom on Sunday I took a walk through Wismar and its surroundings. Armed with my camera I took a lot of pictures and meet Claudia at the Kai Bar later this afternoon. We drank our latte macchiato and I ate a piece of cheesecake, fresh baked.
I still was bored when I got home. And what do architect students do when they bored and don't like there rooms? They rearrange them. It took me 3,5 hours to move my furniture higgledy-piggledy through my room. The result suites me very well. It is more comfortable then before and it could be that I use my sofa now more often.
