something to laugh....
It is so typical..... Claudia and I are still working on the good and bad illumination presentation which is on Thursday by the way. Today is a holiday in Wismar and we didn't get any pictures yesterday.
We went to the harbour at about 10.45 pm to go to the TFZ and take our pictures again with a better camera. We just did it yesterday because this was the first evening since a few days where it stopped raining.
So, there we were. Standing in front of the TFZ surroundings talking about the angles where we can take our pictures. Claudia wanted to take her camera out of the bag and at this moment......all the lights went out! Oh No. It is 11 pm in Wismar at the harbour, and they are turning the lights out. Fine.
After a short while we were laughing and wished we could have seen our stupid looking faces. It came all out of a sudden, but somehow I thought about it. It's Wismar and its small...and electricity is expensive.
Tonight, we are meeting at the Marien Kirchturm (St. Marien Churchtower) to climb up the tower and take some private pictures and after it we are going to the TFZ again, early, to take our pictures.

is it already November ???
Hey Hey,
I finally managed to finish two of my recommended university tasks. The Mexico essay is done and was send on Sunday this week. The other one was a little task for one week. We have this so called 'Stegreif Entwürfe' (impromptu designs). There we had to develop a layout for a brickstone guide through Wismar. Today was the final day and usually we do a little presentation..but unfortunately the professor got ill this morning and so we just handed it in. Nice. I hope he likes mine. I need some good grades in it.
To be able to attend the bachelor thesis we need to pass three impromptu designs, seven elective courses and three design developments. I now have 2 impromptu desgins, 4 elective courses (I'm participating in three this semester and have to pass them all) and this semester we have this Mexico design development. Just for understanding.
This past weekend I drove to Schwerin on Saturday, to visit my Grandparents. My Grandpa turned 89 last Thursday so we celebrated a little bit and went into a really good restaurant to get some really good food. I told them a lot about my three months in Seattle and we had a look on my pictures.
Back in Wismar Caroline and Robert (James was living with Robert when he was in Germany for those who know him) started a new cooking event group. So this week Caro and Robert had us all over. Paris, Steffen and Claudia his new roommate, Christian and his girlfriend Jule, Kjelt came over for some food and me. Nine people in one small room, but they did a miraculous job. Decorations, Wine, all the food.... Oh my God! They had salads and hot stove cheese and more salads as entry. The main menu was a variation of rice, fungis, pork, beef, chicken wings, white wine gravy, potatos, stuffed tomatos and and and .... the tables were packed with food. We already thought, alright...why don't we say that we change the rules and you guys cook all the tme and we are going to eat it, how about that? They didn't like this suggestion.
After a short while Caro and Robert brought the dessertin.
Wow, there was browny cake, citrus whipped cream arranged with vanilla ice cream and red pepper berry with a piece of choclate which had chalapeno flavour. Yes, what to say.... I wanted to bake pizza when it is my turn! I can totally forget that.
It was really nice to stay there the whole evening. I met all my Wismar friends finally and we had a nice chat and wine and we played some phsycho games.
Sunday itself just contained work, work and some food, then work again...

Silence in Wismar
Hello my dear readers,
that was a nice idea with this interesting stories about my architecture student life, but unfortunately it isn't that much interesting these days.
I'm still on my way to write this essay about Mexico, with 20.000 signs not words (didn't get that right in the first place) and tonight Claudia and I are going to the harbour to find some bad examples for illumination. It would also be nice to find some good things but.... it is the harbour and it is Wismar. I'll keep you updated on these things.
Yesterday, the winter arrived unexpectetly in Wismar town! Great that on Saturday our heating system broke down. Yeah, it is so nice to take a shower in a freezing bathroom. Oh my, I hope that the two calls from my roomate, Martina and me worked out today.
Mmmh, what else. My weekend wasn't really interesting too. I struggled with my closet. Or more with all the clothes in it. At the end there were 4 stacks of clothes in front of me which I gave to the Red Cross. More space for me and hopefully some warm clothes for the poor people in this or another country.
My efforts to call my friend Kjelt, who's original name is Andreas, to meet up for a delicious cup of coffee, turned out to be useless because I couldn't find his mobile number. My dear friend Paris didn't respond on a message I wrote him, about going to a live music night at the Schlauch, Irish Pub I used to work in. Hah, it seems to me as everybody left this town for the past weekend.
The mexican guy, Armando, I met before was in Schwerin. So out of town as well.
So what I did after all this frustrating not calling people thing, was....trying to write my essay. I don't have to tell you that these mean computergames stole the hightest amount of my time during this five hours I was sitting in front of my laptop. I think I worked about 30% of this five hours on my eassy and the rest of the time I was chatting, writing mails and beating my own record in spider solitair.
Have a great week folks

Long time no see (read)
I've been so busy since I'm back in Germany.
Organizing my schedule at the university for example.
This semester I'm attending an elective course called 'light and material' from the lighting design fakulty. It is so interesting and in English as well! No honestly, it is really great. The professor is fantastic and he's doing a real good job. Our first task is ti find a good and a bad example for illumination. Inside, outside, natural light or not.... we can do whatever we want which makes it not easier.
Than there's my major project. Mexico! First I have to write a report about mobile and temporarely constructions/buildings with approx. 3000 words. Everyone has a different topic so we all will have some basic knowledge about Mexico, the culture and so on at the end of October. Than we will develop/design some houses and public spaces on a hill 190km south east of Mexico City in cooperation with the mexican universtity. This whole project is a real one, so there's a great chance that something we are developing will be built!
In addition to my studies I now have a job at he university. In our computer lab I'll be helping other students or will print something for their presentations. It is 10 hours a week and I can do some work for my own projects during this time.
My professor who's responsible for us PC lab workers also told me that I should be the responsible person for the lighting designers. When they have questions and so on. 95% of them are only speaking english and because I was 3 month in the States she thought.... it is cute of her. And it is no secret that I love talking english.
Yesterday I quit my job at the Irish Pub. Because of my studies which are more important for me than anything else at the moment. My last semester I already had some troubles to manage everything and now with my other job I decided it is time to quit and concentrate more on my studies. In addition to this main reason, I really wanna find something which has more to do with architecture in general.
What else....
I already told some of you that I saved $300 at he airport, right. So here's the story.
Kim and Bill drove me on monday the first to the airport at about 5am. There I was.
I had my big backpack, already fully loaded and I bought another smaller bag (which could be taken into the plane) for the stuff that didn't fit in my big bag. Then I had my Laptop and a smaller bagpack with camera stuff and so on. Yes I know it was a lot but... I'm a girl. That should be alright as an excuse.
So, I was waiting to check myself in at this new computer desks where you do this all by yourself. Than came the moment where I had to weigh my bags. The big one = 41 pounds, ups. The small one = 21 pounds. double ups. Continental airlines allows 50 pounds in max 2 bags for free. Every additionally pound is $25. Haa, so I had 63 pounds which is just too much! I asked this guy who helped me put my backpack into a plastic bag if I could take this smaller bag into the plane. Sure you can. Great.
The next line I was standing in, the security line, a woman saw me and my 3 bags (laptop, backpack, small bag) and told me that this is not working. Great! But the guy.... she said, no, I'm just doing my job bla bla bla. I was already waiting 45 minutes and my plane was about to board. She told me I can come back to this point of the line.
So I went back, asked another woman if she can check my bag without me waiting in this long line again. She said sure. How many bags did you check before. One. Good. Here you are. Fine I said. Luckily her computer didn't show her how heavy my first bag was.
After two great flights I arrived in Hamburg at he second of October and Claudia picked me up. We went to a smaller town in Germany, Bargteheide, to eat breakfast. American breakfast. German's don't know what an american breakfast should be like. The ham wasn't fried enough, the pancakes weren't real american pancakes. They were the German type which tastes completely different, but other than that it was a good one. A German one.
In the afternoon, Claudia drove me to my Mum. They are living in a small village, its getting smaller..., called Eichede. Its nice and quiet. That's pretty much all! But I love laying at the terrace all day and hearing and doing nothing.
The sun was shining and we sat outside drinking a real strong coffee. I was so tired of course, but I had to stay awake for 10 more hours. Argh! Fighting against the jet lag.
Until Sunday I stayed at my parents house and slept and met some friends.
On Monday last week university started for me 2 weeks too late. That explaines a bit why I didn't manage to see some people here in Wismar.
This whole last week I spent my time at the university or in front if my laptop working for it.
Because of that I missed the baseball game yesterday and because my laptop was unable to receive the mails telling me that there wii´ll be a game.
So now I'm sitting at the lab and surfing at the net and maybe will start working for my report. The books are laying next to me....
By the way, I wanted to thank everyone in Seattle again for being such great friends and making my time really special! I miss you all and hope that we see each other soon.
